Connecting PayPal as a Payment Provider
Important:
As of March 7 2022, Wix no longer supports PayPal payments for any businesses, both new and existing, based in Russia.
A PayPal business account is a great alternative to opening a credit card merchant account. Using PayPal you can accept PayPal payments, credit cards and debit cards. Customers are directed to PayPal when making the payment.

Connecting PayPal
If PayPal is available in your region and you choose to connect it, you can either connect an existing PayPal business account or create a new one.
To connect PayPal:
Go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard.
Tip: Check your business location at the top right. If incorrect, click the drop-down menu to change it.Click Connect next to PayPal.
Depending on whether you have a PayPal business account or need to create a new one, follow the steps:
Have a PayPal business account
Enter the email address associated with your PayPal business account.
Click Connect.
Sign in to PayPal and follow the on-screen instructions.
Click Go back to Wix.com to complete the connection.
Don't have a PayPal business account
Click Create PayPal account.
Follow the instructions on PayPal to create a PayPal business account.
Once your account is approved, go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard and follow the steps under Have a PayPal Account.
Accepting recurring payments
Apps such as Wix Video and Pricing Plans allow you to receive recurring payments for services that renew using PayPal. In order to receive recurring payments you must first complete the set-up process by connecting your PayPal account using the steps above.
Depending on whether you have a new or existing PayPal business account, follow the steps below to activate recurring payments.
Recurring payments for new PayPal business accounts
Go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard.
Click Start PayPal Review under PayPal.
Note: PayPal's review process can take up to 72 hours.
Recurring payments for existing PayPal business accounts
Go to Accept Payments in your site's dashboard.
Click Enable Advanced Options under PayPal.
Click Grant Permission.
Accepting Venmo payments
Before you begin:
Venmo is currently available to select US users only.
At present, Venmo is unavailable for customers using IOS devices.
Venmo is a mobile payment app operated by PayPal. If you've connected PayPal as a payment provider, Venmo is already enabled for your store. No extra steps are needed in order to make this button available.
Customers who have the Venmo app installed on their phone can see this option in your checkout page. Clicking the button redirects them to the app where they can securely complete the payment.
Using PayPal smart buttons
PayPal decides which buttons (up to 2) are displayed, based on your customers' location. By clicking More Payment Options, your customers can view the payment methods available to them. These can be:
PayPal Checkout: Regular payment
Venmo: Venmo payments
PayPal Credit: Payment with special financing. PayPal Credit is subject to consumer credit approval
Pay Later (BNPL): Multiple, interest-free payments

Why is my PayPal payment still pending?
In many cases, a PayPal payment will show as pending because PayPal has not yet processed the payment. Processing can take up to 24 hours.

Can I create coupons or discounts with PayPal for my Wix Store?
If you offer coupons or discounts in your store, you must create the coupons through your Wix account, and not through PayPal.
Can I use PayPal in India?
From April, 2021, PayPal no longer offers domestic payment services in India. As a result of this, PayPal Payments Private Limited users cannot use Indian rupees (INR) to receive payments. This change, however, has no impact on PayPal’s international services. Users in India can continue to send and receive international payments in US dollars (USD).
How can I tell if a payment method is active?
In order to accept online payments, you must connect a payment provider.
Once connected, your checkout will be active for your chosen payment method(s).
You need to have your account successfully verified to receive payouts.
Is my currency supported?
Be aware that payments will fail If you are using an unsupported currency.
The currency used in your payment provider account must match the currency that you set in your Wix account. If you need to change the currency set in your provider account, please contact your payment provider.
If your current payment provider does not support your desired currency, Wix hosts a wide range of alternative payment providers. Learn how to change your payment provider.
What is a minimum payment amount?
Some payment providers have a minimum payment threshold (e.g. $1.01). Payments below this amount will not be processed.
Make sure that all of your products or services are priced over the minimum threshold. This includes discounted items or Pricing Plans.
Please contact your payment provider to get the most up-to-date information about their minimum payment threshold.
Can I offer recurring payments?
To offer recurring payments, you must connect a payment provider that supports recurring payments.
How do I get my payouts?
Payouts are managed by your payment provider. If your provider is a third-party provider, contact them directly.
If your provider is Wix Payments, learn about receiving payouts from Wix Payments.
My customers' payments are being declined. What can I do?
If your customers are experiencing payment failures, you may be able to fix the issue by troubleshooting issues for accepting payments.
Why can’t I connect my desired payment provider?
If you’re having trouble connecting your payment provider, you may be able to fix the issue by troubleshooting common connection issues.
Do I need a Premium plan to accept payments?
Yes. Your Wix site needs to have a Business & eCommerce Premium plan in order to accept payments.
