Wix Mobile POS: Selling Physical Gift Cards at a Mobile POS

Important:

The Wix POS solution for mobile phones is available only in the US and Canada. If you are located elsewhere, you can check out third-party integrations.

You can sell physical gift cards right from your phone at your mobile POS. Customers can then use them to pay for their purchases. It's a great way to encourage customer loyalty.

Step 1 | Order physical gift cards

To get started, design and order your physical cards.

Tip:

Gift cards do not have a set dollar value. You assign a value when you sell the physical gift card to your customer.

Select where you want to order your cards:

Order cards in the Wix dashboard (US only)

Note: This option is currently available only for merchants based in the US.

1. Go to gift card templates in your site's dashboard.

2. Hover over a template and click Customize to select it.

3. Customize your gift card:Click Customize at the bottom.
   Add, edit, or delete any of the available elements.
   Tip: To switch to a solid color background, select the background image and set the opacity to 0%, then click Change Background to select a background color.
   Click Switch to Back at the bottom to design the back of the card.
   Click Done.
   

4. Select an option from the Paper Type drop-down.

5. Select the number of cards you want to purchase from the Quantity drop-down.

6. Click Add to Cart.

7. Click Continue to Checkout.

8. Add your shipping details and click Save & Continue.

9. Add your payment details and click Submit Purchase.

Order cards through eCard Systems

1. Go to the gift card order page.

2. Select an artwork option from the Tell us about your card artwork drop-down:I will provide a press-ready card design: You upload an image that is ready to be printed.
   I'd like to use eCard's custom design service: You upload an image and eCard Systems will improve the design to make it suitable for print.
   I will use artwork from a previous order: Select an image you uploaded for a previous order.
   

3. Upload a card image under Artwork Upload:Click Choose File.
   Select an image and click Open.
   

4. (Optional) Enter art layout instructions in the field provided.

5. (Optional) Enter custom text that appears on the back of the card.
   Tip: If you leave this section blank, default text appears. This includes your business's address, phone number, and website URL.

6. Click the Choose your card finish drop-down and select an option: Gloss Laminate or Satin Matte Laminate.

7. Select a Production Time.

8. Select the number of cards you want to print.

9. Click Add to Cart.

10. Click Proceed to Checkout and complete the order.
    Note: Before the cards are printed, eCard Systems, will contact you so you can approve the gift card design.

Order from any other supplier

You have the option of ordering other gift cards from any other source.

Important: Gift cards must have codes that are between 8 and 16 characters long (numbers or letters) for you to be able to use them at your point of sale.

Step 2 | Enable gift cards in your dashboard

Before you can start selling gift cards at your point of sale, you need to go to your Wix dashboard and enable gift cards for your site.

To enable gift cards:

1. Go to Gift Cards in your site's dashboard.

2. (If you haven't already done so) Click Add Gift Card to Site.
   Important: This adds a Gift Card page to your site and menu. You should either set up gift cards or hide the new page from your site's menu.

1. Select the Let customers enter their own custom amount checkbox and click Save.
   Note: This tab must be selected to enable the sale of gift cards on your mobile device.

Step 3 | Select preset gift card values

When you sell gift cards to customers, you're asked to select the gift card value. You'll see a number of preset values which you can select. If enabled, you can also enter a custom amount.

To select which gift card values are displayed:

1. Go to your site in the Wix app.

2. Tap Manage  at the bottom.

3. Scroll down to the Getting Paid section and tap Point of Sale.

4. Tap the More Actions icon  at the top right.

5. Select POS settings.

6. Tap Physical gift cards.

7. Enter the preset amounts you want to display.

8. Click the Let customers choose their own amount to enable or disable it:Enabled: The Custom Amount option is displayed when you sell gift cards and you can enter an amount.
   Disabled: You won't be able to select a custom amount - only your preset values.
   

Step 4 | Sell physical gift cards

After you receive your cards and enabled gift cards in the dashboard, you can start selling physical gift cards to your customers.

To sell gift cards:

1. Go to your site in the Wix app.

2. Tap Manage  at the bottom.

3. Scroll down to the Getting Paid section and tap Point of Sale.

4. Tap the Gift Cards tab.

5. Tap Issue a physical gift card.

6. Choose a physical gift card and select an option:Scan the card's code.
   Manually enter the card's code and tap Next.
   Tip: Gift card codes are not case sensitive.
   

7. Select the value of the gift card or tap Custom Amount and enter the amount.

8. Tap Add to Cart.

9. Complete checkout.

What are the minimum and maximum possible gift card values?

Your can set the value of a gift card to any amount between $1 to $1000.

How can I check a customer's gift card balance?

1. Go to your site in the Wix app.

4. Tap the Gift Cards tab.

5. Tap Check gift card balance.

6. Select an option:Scan the card's code.

Are there any payment limitations when I sell a gift card?

• Customers cannot use a coupon when purchasing a gift card.

• If you split the payment, the payment must be completed. The order cannot be partially paid.

• You can sell up to 10 gift cards in one order.
