  • Codec: x264

  • Video bitrate: ~2500 kbps

  • Audio bitrate: AAC 44.1kHz ~128kbps

Check that your encoder is shown as software and not as hardware

In order to work correctly, your encoder needs to be set to software.

  1. Open the OBS Studio Encoder on your computer.

  2. Click Settings on the bottom right.

  3. Click Output on the left.

  4. Check that the Encoder setting is set to SoftwareA screenshot of the Output settings in an OBS encoder.

Check your internet speed

We recommend that you check your internet speed as your stream depends on a strong internet bandwidth in order to perform correctly.
Note: Some ISPs might cap bandwidth please check with your ISP to make sure that this is not your case.
Tip: A good tool to check your speed is https://www.speedtest.net/

If you find that you are getting a connection error, we recommend checking the internet speed section as this often relates to connection failure.

Lower the bitrate and resolution

As internet bandwidth is a big part of streaming, we recommend that you try to lower your bit-rate and resolution to help resolve live stream problems.

  1. Open the OBS Studio Encoder on your computer.

  2. Click Settings on the bottom right.

  3. Click Output.

  4. Change the bitrate to 2000 Kbps in the Video Bitrate field. A screenshot of the OBS Studio Encoder showing the Video Bitrate settings.

  5. Click OK.

  6. Click Video.

  7. Click the drop-down arrows to change the resolution to the supported resolution of 1280x720.

Ensure the output is set correctly

The output needs to be set to 'Simple'. If it set to 'Advanced' it can cause issues with the live stream.

Check your stream key

If you're experiencing a connection issue, check the stream key to ensure that it's correct. If it's the correct key, check the internet speed section.
