Troubleshooting Live Streaming Issues
We recommend that you try the following solutions:
Check that you have the correct channel connected to your stream
Go to Video Library in your site's dashboard.
Click Live Stream.
Click I Have an Encoder (If you don't have the encoder yet, learn how to get it here).
Choose a Wix Video channel for your live stream.
Ensure that the Server URL and Stream Key are entered correctly to the OBS encoder
Note: The Server URLs and the Stream Keys are updated every hour or whenever a new stream is created.
Open the OBS Studio Encoder on your computer.
Click Stream on the left.
Check that the Server URL and Stream Key match the information in your dashboard.
Go to your dashboard.
Click Live Stream on the left.
Click Connect Stream.
Check the information to ensure it matches in OBS.
Click OK.
Note: If the information does not match, copy the information in your dashboard and paste it into OBS.
Ensure that your OBS settings are set to the recommended settings
Open the OBS Studio Encoder on your computer.
Click Settings on the bottom right.
Select the Output tab to change the codec, audio and video bitrates.
Select the Video tab to change the video resolution.
Click OK.
Note: To get the best results, make sure you don't exceed the following settings:
Video Resolution: 720p (1280x720)
Codec: x264
Video bitrate: ~2500 kbps
Audio bitrate: AAC 44.1kHz ~128kbps
Check that your encoder is shown as software and not as hardware
In order to work correctly, your encoder needs to be set to software.
Open the OBS Studio Encoder on your computer.
Click Settings on the bottom right.
Click Output on the left.
Check that the Encoder setting is set to Software.
Click OK.
Check your internet speed
We recommend that you check your internet speed as your stream depends on a strong internet bandwidth in order to perform correctly.
Note: Some ISPs might cap bandwidth please check with your ISP to make sure that this is not your case.
Tip: A good tool to check your speed is https://www.speedtest.net/
If you find that you are getting a connection error, we recommend checking the internet speed section as this often relates to connection failure.
Lower the bitrate and resolution
As internet bandwidth is a big part of streaming, we recommend that you try to lower your bit-rate and resolution to help resolve live stream problems.
Open the OBS Studio Encoder on your computer.
Click Settings on the bottom right.
Click Output.
Change the bitrate to 2000 Kbps in the Video Bitrate field.
Click OK.
Click Video.
Click the drop-down arrows to change the resolution to the supported resolution of 1280x720.
Click OK.
Ensure the output is set correctly
The output needs to be set to 'Simple'. If it set to 'Advanced' it can cause issues with the live stream.
Check your stream key
If you're experiencing a connection issue, check the stream key to ensure that it's correct. If it's the correct key, check the internet speed section.
Streaming to multiple sources:
If you are experiencing issues with streaming to multiple sources, you will need to contact OBS as multiple source streaming is not supported by Wix.
